The SYA Community lost a friend and former member when Adam Patrick Seymour collapsed while participating in a pre-season training run with the Lynchburg College soccer team on August 19, 2010.  Adam died on August 22, 2010 as a result of the cardiac arrest he suffered during his collapse on the 19th.  A former “Character Counts Award” recipient, SYA travel soccer player, SYA referee and SYA boy’s recreational assistant coach/trainer, Adam maintained close ties and friendships with the SYA Copperhead players, Coach Williams and Coach Windt until his untimely passing.

Adam was many things to many people.  His leadership and tenacious defensive play endeared him to his teammates.  The engaging Adam smile, cheerfulness and innate good spirit brought joy and happiness to his family and friends.  An intense hard working young man Adam perfected an ability to make people laugh and was always willing to reach out and help others.  Adam touched many lives in his eighteen years and will continue to be sorely missed by his family and friends.

The Bull Run Runners   www.bullrunrunners.org  have dedicated this year’s 5K Festival of Lights Run in Adam’s honor.  The run will be held December 31, 2010 at Bull Run Regional Park.  Proceeds will be used to support the Adam P. Seymour Foundation/ CMG Heart Foundation.

Contributions to remember and honor Adam should be sent to "CMG Heart Foundation/Adam’s Scholarship".  CMG is a tax-deductible 501c charity.  Funds will be used to provide college scholarships to deserving athletes who demonstrate academic, civic and/or artistic achievement.
